About Us

The Tucson Placement and Learning Center has been Building Stronger Families™ in  Tucson and surrounding communities since 2010. Locally owned and operated, we are part of your community, here to serve your family. Whether your family needs the quality care that comes from one of our role model nannies or the one-on-one attention from one of our College Tutors, we are committed to helping you build a stronger family. Please call today to schedule a personal family consultation and choose your role model.

Our certified tutors work individually with one student for the entire session, using the student's curriculum. Tutoring is delivered in private rooms eliminating the distractions that come with multiple tutors working with multiple students in a large, open environment, maximizing the productivity of the session. Our tutors will identify and help overcome the obstacles the student faces to be successful in the classroom and in college entrance exams.

I was lucky to be the youngest by eight years of four boys and thus to have built in mentors and tutors. Over the years I had the opportunity to coach young men and officiate at the collegiate and semi-pro levels so I understand how positive influences can make a huge impact on our young people. I went on to serve in mentoring roles in Fortune 50 companies and business start-ups and recognize the importance of quality education for our young men and women who need to be prepared to compete in a Global economy. The value of comrehending subject material rather than merely memorizing material for tests offers the best chance for success. As a step-father I have become aware of the importance of having a way to screen those who will be having an influence, whether educationally or personally, on my daughter. Additionally, my daughter benefitted greatly from having college aged tutors. It is a pleasure to be able to offer these services in one location to other parents.

I am a native midwesterner having grown up in Iowa and attended Southwest State University in Marshall, MN where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2002. After graduation I began my career as a Kindergarten teacher in Colorado Springs, CO followed by teaching kindergarten and second grade in Iowa. I also worked as a nanny for two years and was a a Camp Counsleor. My education and career choices have always allowed me to be surrounded by children and I get a great deal of saisfaction knowing that I am helping them grow into the wonderful people they will become.

I am a sixth generation Californian who defected to Arizona for the wide open spaces and life style. As a single mother for eight years I faced the challenge of nanny and childcare, and described it to others as the Achilles heel of parents. College Nannies and Tutors would have been an answer to my prayers if it had been available when my child was younger. I am excited about being able to make nanny, childcare and access to quality tutoring easy for other families. Excellent childcare and tutoring leads to happier children who want to excel. I have to mention that I am quite proud of my daughter who graduated with honors and has now entered her sophomore year at the University of Portlan. As a clinical psychologist and licensed marriage, family, and child counselor I have been committed to helping families. I see College Nannies and Tutors as an extension of my commitment to families. I am happy that my husband, Chuck, shares my commitment to build stronger families.

I have always loved working with children for as long as I can remember. After graduating high school, I worked in daycare, which I really loved. Currently, I am attending the University of Arizona and majoring in Pharmacy as well as Famliy Studies and Human Development - I would love to open my own daycare center in the near future. Being a nanny would allow me to share with the children all of the love and knowledge that I have while at the same time building a relationship that I hope will last.

As a baby sitter and a classroom helper I have helped children with their homework from age 3 to a middle school level. I have taught children how to read, write in cursive, spell, do basic math, tell time, and how to play a variety of instruments. I have helped in elementary and middle school classrooms and have had only positive experiences. I am looking to carry on this rewarding experience and help as many children as I can.

I have a love for science and math, which a lot of people struggle with, and I want to share my knowledge with others instead of just keeping it to myself. It only takes one great teacher or tutor to change a persons mind about a subject, I want to be that person who shows people the excitement in even the most boring of subjects. My high school chemistry is the one who helped me get rid of my fear for science; she completely changed my view and outlook on all my classes. I look up to her in every way for what she has taught me, I believe I can help others with the wisdom I have acquired over past years in my life. Helping people is a passion of mine and I love being able to see the progress of students from the information I have taught them; this is a feeling I cannot achieve in any other way.

I have had many fine role models in my life who have shaped me into the man I am today. Obviously my family is one of my greatest influences. They raised me to treat others with the utmost respect and instilled a strong sense of discipline in me. I have lived my life by these rules and have been rewarded greatly, not only by immense opportunity, but also by the mutual respect of my peers and superiors. My high school math teacher and mentor John Douthat showed me that genuine curiosity and comprehension were the tools that allowed one to fully enjoy a subject of study and that only after the work of these tools has been started can the lesser be applied, memorization and repetition. My good friend and mentor Rick Blakeley has taught me too many things to list, but most importantly how a man should lead his life and how to love and care for his family. Mr. Blakeley’s advice and mentorship to me is the main reason I believe I am qualified to be a role model, however, the other influences of my life were also very important to develop my person to excel in the aspects of my life that I apply myself to and prepare me to teach others about the areas I am passionate about.
