Bubbles in Santa Monica in partnership with MomAngeles is hosting a fun-filled family afternoon featuring kids entertainment with a Fairy Princess Party, Bubble Mania, a little rockabilly musical styling from Dusty Blue Socks of Dunebilly, face painting and glitter tattoos. The indoor playground will be supervised by professionals from College Nannies & Tutors affording Mom and Dad a chance to grab food from one of the two fantastic food trucks or shop for jewelry or clothing under the Big White Tent.
Striving to instill a sense of community in your kids? Seeking a way to come together with your family to make a difference? On March 24, nonprofit volunteer organization 4GOOD hosts their first annual 4GOOD Family Day, 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Bridges Academy, 3921 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Studio City. Their aim: To spark the spirit of giving back in Angelenos of all ages.
Marisa was always a good student. She never had to work hard at it (at least not that I noticed) and she never complained about her classes. Adam had a harder time of it and at one point I contemplated getting him a tutor. When he flat out refused the help, I didn’t bother following through and I regret that.

You probably already know how important it is for kids to indulge their creative side, but even when they’re up for being imaginative, many projects are mostly a lesson in following instructions. That’s certainly valuable, but true creativity also involves figuring things out for themselves. Neal Bascomb learned this lesson while writing his book, The New Cool. The author followed a team of 31 high school seniors in Goleta, California who, in the span of just six weeks working alongside mentors, built a robot for an international competition. “This project-based, interactive experience inspires kids like nothing I've ever seen,” Bascomb says.
