Hello! My name is Megan Cumberland. I live here in Kansas City with my husband Kyle. I have a huge passion for education and children. In my free time you can find me watching my husband play and coach tennis or volunteering in the community. What I am looking forward to the most about working for CNS+T is bringing on awesome Nannies! I look forward to meeting you and building long lasting relationships with a great team.
I am a college student at Northwest Missouri State University. I am working towards my bachelors degree in education specifically in Secondary Social Science Education. I have always had a passion for history and with upper level education I am able to specify within that area to educate young adults. I have worked hard with my schooling and I am able to graduate a semester early. In the Fall of 2017 I will be able to student teach in the Kansas City area.
I currently reside in Kansas City, but I was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. I have lived on a farm my whole life and have enjoyed being active outdoors. I played sports in high school and was on the honors role. School and family have been important in shaping who I have become today.
Since I was ten, I have been working with children ages two months to twelve years. At thirteen I began a summer nanny job for a five and an eight year old. From there I have expanded my growth and worked with all ages of children. I love to have children outside doing fun activities that keeps them active. I find education to be important and reading is an enjoyable activity. From many summers with children, I have found that getting them set up with the summer library program is beneficial to them for their educational growth.
I am an early childhood special education teacher by day and a nanny by night/weekend. I am very passionate about working with children so I thought this would be a fun job! I graduated in 2010 with my undergraduate degree from Northwest Missouri State University... Go Bearcats! I graduated in 2014 from KU with my master's in special education with an emphasis in autism. I spent a semester teaching in a child development center in Germany on a U.S. military base and was able to do a lot of traveling while I was there. In my free time I enjoy reading, pintrest-ing, cooking, and playing with my dog, Carter.
I currently attend Metropolitan Community College to finish my Associates degree. Goal is to get my credits placed together in a package making it easier to transfer to a 4 year school. Right now I like spending my time doing things I enjoy: movies, video-games, books, and helping others understand things that they have trouble with. This is why I love tutoring and for the past 8 years I've been doing it as a peer and now I am pursuing it as a source of income.
